Serene Bebe Placenta Capsules

safe, high quality services performed with respect

our encapsulators have provided services to hundreds of area families since 2015. We’re honored to support your postpartum recovery.

our approach

We offer placenta encapsulation with a focus on safety, quality, and convenience. We maintain expertise and up-to date knowledge in our field and have a great commitment to your confidentiality and privacy .

Our encapsulators are trained to properly sanitize and prepare for your encapsulation process with as many single use products as possible, and with hospital grade sanitization for all reusable equipment.

To ensure safety we require copies of certain prenatal lab-work from clients and utilize the steaming method for all encapsulations.

In addition to training in preparing placenta capsules, our encapsulators have completed training in the areas of blood-borne pathogen safety as well as food safety training standards.

the process

At Serene Bebe the encapsulation process takes 2-3 days from the time we receive your placenta. Steps to encapsulate include:

  • picking up or receiving your placenta (we offer both options)

  • cleaning and disinfecting to prepare a sanitary work space

  • making a print of your placenta (if desired)

  • rinsing and preparing the placenta for steaming

  • steaming to kill any surface bacteria and increase the storage time of your capsules

  • thinly slicing the placenta to ensure it can be completely dried before encapsulating

  • dehydrating the placenta & a cord keepsake if desired (the longest part of the process)

  • grinding your dried placenta

  • filling and counting your capsules

  • jarring and labeling your capsules, packing up your cord for delivery

  • getting your capsules to you (we offer pickup or drop off options)

  • followup support and additional postpartum care is available if needed

Placenta Encapsulation

FAQS

  • People choose placenta encapsulation for a wide range of reasons, from mental health to physical well-being and many for curiosity sake only (afterall, you can't get a re-do!).

There is not right or wrong reason to choose placenta encapsulation as a part of your postpartum healing journey.

  • With your encapsulation you are offered vegetarian capsules, natural prints of the placenta, an Umbilical Cord Keepsake, and DIY instructions for tincture, cream, and salve to make with your capsules. You will select what you would like to receive on your registration form.

  • Placenta Encapsulation is a two day process once started.

Most of the process of placenta encapsulation is spent cleaning and sanitizing. The placenta process itself includes both active (preparing) and passive (drying) work time. The encapsulation specialist will spend up to 4-5 hours of active time processing to create your capsules.

  • Any blood-borne illness, some types of infections, very heavy meconium in birth, and drug or cigarette use in pregnancy risk someone out of placenta encapsulation.

Additionally, serious infection during labor or certain complications can require pathology services, where the placenta is sent for testing and cannot be released for encapsulation.

  • According to Lactation Specialists, placenta encapsulation may increase milk supply which for some high producers may put the lactating person at risk for over supply, and/or mastitis. Some people struggling with low-supply, for example with insufficient glandular tissue, may also note changes as well. Our suggestion when it comes to your milk supply would be to decrease the amount of capsules you are consuming and follow the recommendation of your lactation specialist if you have any concerns.

  • You will need to bring a medium sized cooler with you to the hospital and will need ice, which most hospitals will provide if you ask your nurse nicely! We have high quality coolers available to add on to services if you would like.

  • If your placenta is sent to pathology a full refund of the encapsulation fee and any delivery fees will be processed, however cooler rental fees are not refundable. All we need is a report or note from your doctor. We also refund in any "god-forbid" circumstance.

We do not offer refunds for improper storage or handling of your placenta by you (for example if you forget to drop it off and it is left in the cooler past the safe time limit), changing your mind about encapsulation once booked, lack of contacting us for pickup or drop off within time limit, or any dissatisfaction of results.
